Electronic Leak Detection Testing

ACT provides specialized Electronic Leak Detection (ELD) and membrane performance testing. ELD is most often performed on new membranes for commissioning and integrity testing but can also be performed on existing construction. ELD detects leaks and voids that other testing equipment cannot locate as accurately.

  • High Voltage Spark Testing
  • Low Voltage Horizontal + Vertical Scanning
  • Electric Field Vector Mapping (EFVM™)

ELD Standards

ASTM D7240 – Standard Practice for Electrical Leak Location Using Geomembranes with an Insulating Layer in Intimate Contact with a Conductive Layer via Electrical Capacitance Technique

The ASMT D7240, also known as electrical liner integrity surveys or leak location surveys, is a post-installation quality control method of detecting leaks in geomembranes.

ASTM D7877 – Standard Guide for Electronic Methods for Detecting and Locating Leaks in Waterproof Membranes

This specification details the methods used to detect breaches in waterproof membranes using the continuity of electrical currents. The methods described include testing procedures designed to provide a part of the construction quality control of membrane installations.

ASTM D8231 – Standard Practice for the Use of a Low Voltage Electronic Scanning System for Detecting and Locating Breaches in Roofing and Waterproofing Membranes
